Here’s Conor O’Neill’s reflections on the first half between Brentford and Bournemouth…
After eight VAR-induced minutes of stoppage time, we reach the break. Sunderland have been brilliant, yet somehow we are still level.
Regis Le Bris’ side are beating Brentford at their own game, cutting through them with direct running and slick cutbacks, while focal point Brian Brobbey is causing chaos with his bustling physicality up front.
Sunderland recorded 23 touches in Brentford’s box in that first half. No visiting side managed that many in the opening 45 minutes at the Gtech last season. Keith Andrews, who has been animated in his dugout for the entire half, will surely deliver a good old fashioned dressing-down during the break.
